My Review:
This is a sweet book about a Hedgehog on his first trip outside his yard and he encounters another animal and makes fun of him. His mother sings a song he doesn't understand about being yourself. She explains that by making fun of others it is mean and she is disappointed with what he said. She explains how we are all different but that makes us all special. This is a book that shows children that everyone is different and that we should embrace them. I loved the book.

Tape
Scissors
Pencils or wood for the axle

DIFFICULTY: 2 dots

SCIENCE FUN FACTS: Learn about a simple machine like a pulley. How it can make things easier to move from one place to another. Understand how wheel and axle can be used to make lifting easy and effective.

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1:  Make the pulley basket: Take the plastic cup and make 3 holes like a triangle.

STEP 2:  Feed some yarn through the holes and tie, giving the cup a short handle.

STEP 3:  Construct the pulley: Tie the yarn to the basket. The length of the yarn can be 10 feet or more, depending on how long you want the rope to be.

My Review
Firstly thanks to the publisher for a review copy of this book

This is a fun book of experiments for children from six to ten. I remember a book with some experiments when I was little and loved it and this book should have the same response with children today. It has lovely pictures which help to show exactly how to carry out the experiments. As I mention there are simple experiments a six year old could do and then harder ones for the ten year olds. This book would be a great book for days when you need something to keep the children entertained like days where it's either to hot or cold to be outside. It will also keep the children of their ipads and teach them something at the same time.

My Review:
This is a cute book. The pictures are well done and bright and colourful. In the book we are trying to see who the new person is by trying to match a shape. Children will have fun working out who it is. A good book to give to a child as a present.

Matt Bergles - Larry Saves the Prairie - Virtual Book Tour

Children's Book
Date Published: September 1, 2015

Through the voices of Annabelle and Angus, discover what almost happened to wildlife on the Kansas prairie. When Larry receives a letter that says he must destroy the prairie dogs on his land, he and some of his neighbors join together to make certain that all wildlife remain unharmed. Not only were black-tailed prairie dogs at risk of destruction but the already-endangered black-footed ferrets were at risk of becoming extinct.

In Larry Saves the Prairie, with the help of Annabelle and Angus, you'll discover what it means to be a true hero, and most especially, what it took to save prairie wildlife in Kansas.

Matt Bergles is a Colorado native who grew up in Pueblo, Colorado. He earned a bachelor's degree in social science from CSU-Pueblo, his master's degree in U.S. history, and a Ph.D. in public affairs at CU Denver, as well as a certificate in alternative dispute resolution.

Matt currently teaches at a K-8 private school in Denver, where he has witnessed firsthand young, inner-city kids' curiosity and love of animals and nature, observing that every time they are asked what community service project or charitable cause they'd like to be involved with, most K-3 students pick something related to domestic animals or wildlife. This natural love and curiosity led Matt to write Larry Saves the Prairie for young children.

Matt is an independent researcher and advocate for wildlife conservation, especially conservation of prairie habitat. Matt lives in Denver with his wife, Kate, two children, Luke and Mary, and dog Samuel. He is a volunteer coach, a private pilot, and has helped teach his teenage son to fly.

My Review
This book has wonderful illustrations and tells an important story. I didn't know much about the prairie dogs before and there importance to the ecology but after reading this book I do. It is written so a child will understand the importance and why we need to save them and how a man who takes a stand to save them can be a hero. We learn how so many other prairie animals need them and even the grass. This book is a book that would be great to have in school libraries as a resource book for students to understand how removing one animal can affect so many others. A good book I would recommend but probably to children over 6.

My Review:
Dave the Donkey is a fun children's book. What I love about it is the way the story is told by Dave the Donkey who carried Jesus into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. It then tells the Easter story with Grandpa Donkey telling Dave what happened. It is a different way of telling the story the story in a simplistic but clever way. The illustrations are very well done and I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a different book to use at Easter. It is a book little children would understand and it also has a guide in the back for teachers or parents to help them use the book with there children. Great book and the other books in the series are a good read also.

Giveaway
I am going to give away my review copy to one Australian reader. All you need to do is comment and leave a way to contact you. you have til Monday 7 April 6 pm South Australian time to comment.

ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF CATIE'S SECRET! y Laura Allen Nonemaker

ANNOUNCING THE RELEASE OF CATIE'S SECRET!

Catie's Secret, the second book in my picture book series, God's Secret Garden Adventures has just been released by Tate Publishing. Like the first book, Benny's Angel, this brand new tale invites young readers to join an exciting adventure while it teaches them a valuable lesson.

Read what Ronald Kotulak, author of Inside the Brain, has to say about the vital early childhood learning years:

"During this period and especially the first three years of life, the foundations for thinking, language, vision, attitudes, aptitudes, and other characteristics are laid down."

About Catie's Secret
Catie Caterpillar looks different from any bug Herbie and Bella have ever seen. When Herbie makes fun of Catie, Mayor Benny shows him why he should not judge anyone by how they look. In the end, Catie reveals a secret and the bunnies learn the joy of forgiveness. Catie's Secret takes children through the entire transformation process from caterpillar to butterfly. Parents and teachers will appreciate the Catie's Story Challenge and Butterfly Facts sections in the back of the book.

Catie's Secret comes with a free audio download with page turns to facilitate reading skills.

Thank you for considering Catie's Secret as an addition to your child or grandchild's
library. This book and the others that make up God's Secret Garden Adventures will delight and entertain them while they learn valuable
lessons that will last a lifetime.
