Christmas Focus on Snowbound Colorado Christmas with Lena Nelson Dooley

Today I'm featuring Lena Nelson Dooley on my blog. I have enjoyed hearing how Christmas is celebrated in other places. I have been asked also to answer some of these questions myself and will do that over the weekend. Interview
Firstly thanks for Being on my blog this time we are focusing on christmas.
So I thought I would have a few fun questions first.

1.For you what do you most associate with Christmas where you live?
We see a lot of Santa things and snowmen and Christmas trees in the stores here, but James and I don't use Santa things in our home. We put our emphasis on the real Reason For the Season -- Jesus.

2. Do you have any special family traditions you do at Christmas time?
Our whole family usually comes over at sometime around Christmas. Sometimes on Christmas Eve, sometimes Christmas Day, according to when they'll be with the other side of their family. Many years, I make my special Sour Cream Enchiladas with the leftover turkey I've frozen after Thanksgiving. My daughters fix other things that go with a Mexican food meal. My grandchildren especially like for Grandma to fix the Enchiladas, and I still do them, even though they're a lot of work. We also read the Christmas story and sing carols together as a family before we exchange gifts.

3. Do you have a favourite christmas Carol and if so do you know why?
I love Christmas music. I have at least 35-40 Christmas CDs, all from Christian singers or groups. I start playing them the day after Christmas and play them until after New Years. Probably one of my favorites is "Mary, Did You Know," which was written by a Christian comedian who also sings. Such depth in it.

4. If you could spend Christmas anyway you could how would you celebrate?
Actually, I'd like to be able to take my whole family--kids, grandkids, etc.--to Hawaii for Christmas some year. (Jenny here can I come too?)



5. Now a few questions about Snowbound Colorado Christmas. I really loved the concept of this book. Was it hard to co-ordinate with the other authors?
We planned the book together, then proposed it to our publisher. After Barbour bought it, we did have to coordinate. Tamela and I had to coordinate the most. It took work, but this team was a joy to work with, and I believe the story shows that.

6. What was the best part about writing the Novella?
I loved finding tidbits that I could use in the story to give the reader a real feel for that time in history. I also have a doctor friend in Dallas, who is also a writer, who served as my resource. He even owns antique medical books, so the treatment they would have used in 1913 is authentic.

7. I really enjoyed your story "The Best Medicine", did you have a theme when
you were writing it?
Yes, the scripture I used about a merry heart doing good like a medicine was the theme, and also not judging someone without knowing the whole truth.

8. Do you have a Christmas message for my readers?
Don't let the real reason for the season get lost in all the hustle, bustle, and trimmings. Seek Jesus in a deeper way this Christmas.
