 My Review:

I haven't been able to read much this year but this book I didn't want to put down. I really loved the book and the way this book flows with the different stories but all linked on one way. Each book has a strong heroine in different ways. They each had to fight for different things from being accepted to fighting for there lives. I loved the way each story flowed. From feisty Maisy who I just fell in love with the way she handled herself. To Katie who was dealing with some hard issues. Molly who wants to be an editor but has to try to prove herself and then Grace who finds herself in trouble and needing help. This is a good read and I fully recommend it. Most who know me know I love historical and that I use to read over 100 books a year this year due to illness this book made number 4 but was the fastest book I have read this year.

My Review: 

This is an interesting story with Jody having left home 7 years ago and leaving a trail of questions and fear. She didn't know what it would do to her parents or brother but knew she wanted to go somewhere. This is something she has lived with for 7 years and now due to circumstances she wonders if her parents would want to see her again after this time. The story deals with the consequences of these actions. It shows how a missing child can really impact on a whole family and also deals with forgiveness and acceptance. Loved the way the story is handled and it was one Christmas story this year I didn't cry in. I really loved the story. I can also appreciate more what my Aunty when through when my cousin ran away for several years.

My Review.

This is the second in a series by Dorothy but I didn't feel lost by not having read the first book. I enjoyed the story. Carrie is a strong character who has been through alot, when her brother marries a widow with 2 boys life gets interesting. Griff is passing through till he ends up training a horse for a race. Carrie has a friend Nate with who she has been stalling setting a date for a wedding. Dorothy uses humor in this book and there are times I would burst out laughing which can be interesting when you are in the dentist office and then having to explain the story to them. The books deals with prejudging people and assumptions where some of the towns people are more concerned with status then reality. Carrie also has to deal with her brothers new wife who tends to have an interesting way of treating people. I really felt for Carrie. Griff also has his own issues with family and is in Hickory Ridge looking for someone. This book had me laughing and cheering for the Carrie and Griff. I look forward to reading more books by Dorothy.

My Review:
I got this book as part of this tour to review. When I read book one in the series I couldn't wait for this book. I wasn't disappointed. This would be my top read of the year so far. I love the story and the fact its based on true people with a little license used to there story but important facts remain. If you haven't read book one you will still be able to follow this book without being confused. The story takes up with the oldest son Ben Hanby in college but still dwelling on an event that happened when he was a child. He witnesses a slave die who was married and want more than anything to be reunited with his girl Nellie.
Kate Winter is also at the college and quite shy. She has a beautiful singing voice but finds it hard to speak or sing in public. She wishes for a different life, her mother is wants her to marry the right boy from the right family. Kate dreams to leave home and have freedom. Due to something that happens Kate finds a voice and discovers things she didn't know. I enjoyed the story of the underground railway and how some were so pro slavery and others opposed it. I find it interesting some of the arguments for slavery. This is a powerful story of a man who did make a difference in a way he never would have imagined.  Great read.
