My Review

I enjoy reading Christmas books and this book has 3 novellas by 3 generations of the Brunstetter family. Book one is written by Wanda and again a really good read. We see Luella who is a caregiver of a dying women and promising to look after her son. She is given a special quilt which is passed down from eldest daughter to eldest daughter. We also see how sometimes love can come in unexpected places and family may not always be happy with someones choice.

Book two we see Karen and her husband living in a new area and Karen is missing her family and when something happens to one of the children she blames herself she finds herself and her husband becoming distant. She takes comfort in the quilt.

Book three was my favourite of the the novella's. Roseanna is left at the alter on her wedding day and blamed herself. When an old friend returns to town she is torn over what to do. She didn't want the quilt because she thinks she will never get married and feels it would be better to give it to one of her other sisters. We watch what will happen and see if she gets her happy ever after.

Good read.

Description

Return to the Troyer farm where Heidi welcomes six new cooking class students who experience the healing hand of God.

Despite stressful changes occurring in their lives, Lyle and Heidi once again open their Ohio home up to those seeking to learn about Amish cooking. This time a teenager helping her divorced dad cook for the family, a caterer needing new recipes, a food critic, a hunter looking to impress his buddies, a wife given the class as an unwanted gift, and a mailman lured in by the aroma of good cooking gather around Heidi’s table.

During each class, Heidi teaches culinary skills, but it is her words of wisdom that have a profound effect on her students—though, this time Heidi’s own hurting heart will need some healing nourishment.

This is the second book in The Amish Cooking Class series.
Book #1:  The Amish Cooking Class - The Seekers

My Review:

Firstly Thanks to Netgalley for my review copy.

This is the second book in this series and this time we Heidi is teaching another six students with different issues. We also see at the start of the book Kendra living with the Troyer's awaiting the birth of the child she intends to give them.

The classes start with the six new students Bill a hunter, Nicole who is doing most of the work now her mother has left, Lance the Postal courier, Todd the food critic, Lisa a cater and Allie who's husband paid for the the cooking classes. Each has issues and and Heidi hopes to be able to help them like she did the first group of students. It is interesting to see the interaction between the different students.

One think I loved was seeing the characters from the first book either mentioned in what has come of them or in different ways. We also see Heidi's struggles with desperately wanting to become a mother.

Yet another really good read and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
