Getting to Know you Thursday with Nicole Watson

Please Welcome Nicole Watson to my blog today. Nicole is an Australian author who's book is about her little boy Sam who was born with half a heart. It tells his story and I have to say the cover shows a really cute little boy.

Getting to know you interview
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Sure Jenny.  Like most women, God made me to do many different things.  Some of these include being a daughter of the Most High , a loving wife and mum, an avid reader and writer, an inspirational speaker and a teacher at times.  I enjoy trying new and different things. I love to paint draw, run, explore, be a valuable friend and my personal favourite- hang out with Jesus.
2. When you were a child did you have a favourite book or books?
My favourite books growing up changed much over time.  I fondly remember reading Roal Dahl, Archie comics, when I was older Sweet Dream romance novels. (Jenny here this brings back memories, I loved the Archie comics and use to buy them each week. I also read the Sweet Dreams books and another range by harlequin for teens which were clean reads.)
3. Do you have a favourite Genre to both read and write?
I write non-fiction.  I love to read God stories, the expeirences of everday poeple with an extraordinary God. I also like a little bit of historical romance and other contemporary Christian literature.
4. Did you have favourite authors growing up who have influenced you?
I remember the Diary of Anne Frank, being pivotal.  Otherwise, much of what I read growing up and even as a young adult, I would never read now.  I guess you could say they infuenced me to not write the way they do.  I was not a Chrisitan then, and I am not proud of much of what I read while growing up.
5. When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I never had a desire to be an author.  I began blogging 5 years ago and my love of writing grew from there.   I have a burning desire to meet people on a conversational level about issues that matter.
6. How did you go about becoming an author?
When I was compelled to write Sam's Heart, I posted my manuscript to two Australian Publishers.  The second of them Even Before Publishing, accepted and published the book.
7. If you were not a writer what would you like to be?
My writing is completely linked with our life's purpose in living the Kingdom life and loving people for God.  Our family is currently training to serve with Mission Avaitaion Fellowship.  So even if I was not writing, we would be serving God in this way.  However writing is one way I relate to God and share and encourage people, so I must write, it is what I have been called to do.
8. Outside reading and writing what do you like to do?
I love to bake, garden both edible and ornamental plants, I spend time praying for people both in person and online, I walk everywhere.  I love to drink tea from ornamental teacups and watch the BBC versions of Jane Austen films.
9. Do you have a place you love to visit or would love to visit?
I would love to spend more time with family.  We have never lived close to family, so time with them is treasured.  Other than that I would love to visit Israel, and New Zealand.
10. If you could have a meal with 3 living people who would you choose and why?
Jesus-Yes, He is alive! He saved me loves me and I can't wait to dine with him.
Brother Yun-Author of the Heavenly Man, because he has a faith that moves mountain ranges.
My family-As they all live so far away.
Finally can you tell us about your current books and/or any that will
be coming out soon. Also where we can find you on the web.

I have read this book and it shows the spirit of two people, a husband and wife and their courage in a seemingly hopeless situation. It depicts, faith, love, togetherness and determination. Excellent read.

"Sam's Heart" is an awesome book.
Thanks for the interview, Jenny and Nicole. I remember the Archie comics and Sweet Dreams books too. And tea does taste better from ornamental cups :)
