Getting to know you Thursdays with Lenora Worth and an Aussie giveaway

Please welcome Lenora Worth to my blog today I met her on the http://craftieladiesofromance.blogspot.com/. I am sorry I am late posting I have been sick with a really nasty gastric bug which after a trip to the dr I think I am now improving.
Its been fun getting to know Lenora and you can see her post every Friday on the above mentioned blog.

1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I am a Southern girl (as in Southern United States). I was born in Georgia and I live in Louisiana. I'll be moving to Florida next year, however. I write Christian fiction for Love Inspired and I also write for SuperRomance (another Harlequin line where I also write PG-13 type love stories.)

2. When you were a child did you have a favourite book or books?
I loved to read all sorts of books. Of course, I loved the fairy tales and I have always loved classic novels such as "Wuthering Heights' and "Gone With The Wind." I grew up on a farm and after I'd get my chores done, I'd sit and read for hours.

3. Do you have a favourite Genre to both read and right write?
I love Christian fiction, I love adventure stories and suspense. I try to write those type books as well as my love stories for Love Inspired.

4. Did you have favourite authors growing up who have influenced you?
John Steinbeck and F. Scott Fitzgerald early on. I read a lot of Nancy Drew books, too. I discovered romance as a young bride. My husband worked at night so I'd read until he came home.

5. When did you know you wanted to be an author?
In the fourth grade. We were assigned a writing project and I just fell in love with writing. I knew then that I wanted to write. It seemed to free me up and allow my vivid imagination to take off. I started writing short stories and selling them on the playground for a quarter a piece!

6. How did you go about becoming an author?
I wrote all through school and continued to write even while I worked at other jobs. When we moved to Louisiana, I attended a book signing at the local mall and meet several romance writers. I got up the nerve to tell them I wanted to write so they invited me to join their local group. From there, I learned the business of writing and I entered contests and kept submittiing manuscripts. In 1993, Avalon bought my first book "River's Call."

7. If you were not a writer what would you like to be?
I'd either work in a bookstore or go back into my other love--retail. I love clothes and shoes!

8. Outside reading and writing what do you like to do?
Shoe shop, take long walks, bake bread and maybe piddle in my garden. I don't have much time these days to do those things.

9. Do you have a place you love to visit or would love to visit?
I've always wanted to go to Ireland. I love the folklore and the beauty of Ireland.

10. If you could have a meal with 3 living people who would you choose and why?
Pat Conroy, Maya Angelou and Diane Sawyer. I admire each of them and I can identify with their craft and their talent. (Or I strive to duplicate just an ounce of their compassion and talent.)

Finally can you tell us about your current books and/or any that will be coming out soon.
Also where we can find you on the web.
www.lenoraworth.com or any of the Craftie Ladies of Love Inspired blogs.
Current books--my next Love Inspired book will be out in September--The Doctor's Family. It's part of a continuity series with five other writers.
My next Super will be out in December--A Southern Reunion.
One of my recent books for LIS suspense made it to the New York Times bestseller list! That book, Body of Evidence, is also part of a continuity series. And right now, I'm working on a three book series for LI about three sisters who lost their mother to breast cancer. The first one--Sweetheart Reuion--is finished and ready to mail to my editor! I also have a couple of suspense books to write and another Super.

Giveaway: I ended up with two copies of Hometown Sweetheart. I am giving one copy away to an Aussie responder.
here is some info on the book
Seven unruly kids have moved next door to Simon Adams's mountain cabin. On a church retreat, these rambunctious rascals and their perky teacher, Shanna White, prove to be too much for one reclusive craftsman to handle. Plus, they're a big reminder of everything Simon lost, especially his chance for marriage and family. All he wants is to be left alone, but soon he's drawn in by the kids' shenanigans—and by Shanna herself. Can a brooding mountain man and a sweet lady live happily ever after?

For a chance to win please leave a comment and away to reach you. Remember you need to have an Australian address to enter (or you can enter an Australian friend). You have til Friday 15 July 6pm Australian time to comment.

Hey Lenora, great interview. It's always fun to learn more about my fellow authors. And why are you moving to FL? Just being nosey. :) Also, is writing for the Super line much different than writing for the LI line? Again, just being nosey. :)It was great seeing you in NY!

It sounds like a sweet, wholesome story and I'm an Aussie who'd like to be in the running to win it.
Like Lenora, I grew up on all those classics too. Reading is never wasted.
Sorry to hear you've had a bug, Jenny, and glad to see you're back on top of things now.
Cheers,
Paula V

Great interview. I'm curious about the differences between LI and Super, too. I've read supers since forever.

Hello. It's good to see y'all here. Or should I say "Gu-day" like an Aussie. I think I spelled that wrong!

Super is a bit different from LI. First, Supers are longer (75,000 words)but this allows for subplots and a deeper character study. Also, in my Supers, I try to put a bit more sensual tension. The restrictions are a bit more lenient so I can expand and explore the whole plot line and conflct with a longer story. I am happy that the editors at Super (Wanda Ottewell especially) have allowed me to write PG-13 type books. I love writing for LI and for Super!

Oh, Florida. We both grew up in Georgia and still have family there but we weren't sure we wanted to move back. Our daughter is a teacher in Florida, so we're moving down there to be closer to her and also because we fell in love with the area after babysitting our "grand-dog" Sassie for a few weeks one summer. Living in GA, we always went to the beach a lot growing up. We bought a little condo on a back bay (less storm damage)but the beach is about ten minutes away! We're excited about this move, but we will have half the space we have now. My husband has hinted that I need to get rid of some shoes and some books. Horrors!!! Elnora can't do that!

Hi Lenora, I'm another Aussie from Queensland and I love romances.
It's great to read everything here, and the story sounds great.
My Mum used to love all the christian romance novels as well.

God bless,
Maggie aka Margaret Munce

Ausjenny and Lenora, thanks for the fun interview :) This book sounds like a great read. I must remember to look out for Lenora's SuperRomances, although they are packaged under a different line here that used to be called Special Moments.

Thanks, Narelle. I'm enjoying writing for Super just as much as I love writing for LI.
