Faith 'n Fiction Saturday:

Faith 'n Fiction Saturday: The First Christian Fiction Book You Remember Reading

Today's Question:We all come to faith in Jesus at different times in our lives and we all come to Christian fiction at different times, too! What's the first book in the Christian fiction genre you can remember reading? What was your impression of it? Did it make you want to read more or less?

This is a hard question cos I grew up in a christian home. I remember a couple of bible stories in a book I got for our Sunday School Anniversary. It had about 4 stories about children in the bible but a couple of the children were used for the story. Like the feeding of the 5 thousand. It talks about the mother who packed his lunch. I loved the story of the little maid who helped Naman (I think his name is).
Then I read other christan books like Pollyanna. I loved the Narnia series read it many times and tried so hard to make my wardrobe work! As a teen I read the Peggy series which was back in the 60's - 70's. I read them late 70's.
But after I left school I didn't read for years and someone gave me the first in the Janette Oke series "Canadian West" and I was hooked from then on. I feel in love with Mounties and Canada and reading.

I think it's wonderful you grew up reading it. Even though I grew up in a Christian home I never even knew there was Christian fiction (I'm the only "reader" in my family).

Wasn't the Canadian West series by Janette Oke just wonderful? To this day, it is still a favorite series of mine. My parents used to read with me every night, and that series was read more than once. We took turns reading the chapters, and it was a great experience! :)

I only read the Narnia books as an adult. They are so good and I really enjoyed them...wish I'd have been introduced to them as a child. At any rate, I do enjoy Narnia.

How adorable you must have been trying to get your wardrobe to work! :) I have never read the Janette Oke series "Candadian West" I think I'll have to look into this one! :)

I loved the Canadian West series too! Janette's older series are some of my favorites!
