Book description:
Two mothers end up more closely connected that they could dream...and yet they are strangers.
As Christmas Eve quickly approaches, one mother waits anxiously for her husband to return from an overseas business trip, so they can celebrate their last Christmas together before the twins head off to college.
As Christmas Eve quickly approaches, one mother waits anxiously for her husband to return from an overseas business trip, so they can celebrate their last Christmas together before the twins head off to college.
However, the other mother barely notices the Christmas festivities since her daughter is waiting desperately for a new heart and prays for a miracle. God's miracles are sometimes bittersweet.
My Review:
I just finished this book yesterday on the trip to Adelaide. I enjoyed this book. It deals with real issues. Organ Donation. We see both sides of this issue, from the family of a doner and from the recipient. I love how Lauraine weaves this story of both families. We see how one mother is grieving for her loss and one mother is dealing with what may be the loss of her daughter waiting for a new heart. We also see how She responds to the precious gift.
This book really touched me and I could feel the pain of loss and the excitement of life at the same time. I hope this book will get people talking about being organ doners or at least the possibility. This is a very moving book I would really recommend. Reading both sides really made this story. 4.5 out of 5 excellent read.
