Review of Gunfight at Grace Gulch by Darleen Franklin

Firstly sorry for the delay in this review. The past week has been hectic and full of dramas.
From the Back:
A Century-old feud refuses to die.
The feud between the Graces and the Gaynors is still going strong more than a century after its inception in the 1891 Oklahoma land run. Newspaper editor Penn Hardy is murdered during the reenactment of the most famous gunfight in the history of Grace Gulch, Oklahoma. Cici Wilde, owner of a vintage clothing store, feels compelled to investigate when police suspect people close to her. She soon discovers her talent for sleuthing equals her flare for wearing period clothing. Theater director Audie Howe never expected the reenactment to end in a real murder. He cares too much for the future of the Magda Grace Mallory Theater - and the charming Cici Wilde - to let her face danger alone. Cici and Audie take a dangerous gamble to nail the killer - and lay their lives on the line.

My Review:
What can I say right from the moment I saw this book and the title I knew I would be hooked.
I'm a Western fan and the idea of a feud captured me hook, line and sinker. I was not disappointed. Darlene brings Grace Gulch to life with a re-enactment that goes wrong. Cici is out to prove her sister and a close friend are innocent and Audie is along for the ride. This story is way more than just a cozy Mystery (and a very good one at that), it deals with insecurities and self doubts and how we can learn from them and grew. I wanted to go to Grace Gulch and I want to visit Cici's store. This book is wonderful and I give it 5 out of 5. I cant wait for the next book.

Side Note to receive these books before they are available in the store and at a discounted price you can click on the link in the side bar for the cozy mysteries.

I loved this book, too, Jenny! Darlene does such a great job of painting the Wilde family for us. One of my favorite characters is Cord Grace, the rancher. I made Darlene promise to bring him back in later books. Speaking of which, WAIT until you read the next one. It's just as good. (I'm one of Darlene's critique group, so I got a sneak preview.) I have to say, Darlene has a marvelous touch with setting, and she's consistent to boot.

Ah, Susan, you make me blush!

Jenny has already reviewed Susan's book (written with her daughter Megan). Check out Homicide at Blue Heron Lake.
